Caryl Colleen Johnston, 74, of Washington, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

She was born to Carter and Glenda (Wilson) Kelley on April 11, 1950 in Peoria, IL.  She married David Johnston in Peoria on March 27, 1972.  He survives.

Also surviving are their son, Brandon Johnston; granddaughter, Victoria Johnston; and grandson, Ethan Johnston.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Caryl received her bachelor's degree in nursing at Bradley University.  She worked at Washington Christian Village and with OSF Hospice before retiring.

She loved sewing and any kind of crafting, but spending time with her family and friends was her greatest joy.  She will be dearly missed.

Private services will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.

Caryl loved animals.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TAPS No Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin.
