Carrie Koch, of Germantown Hills, IL, was born in Peoria, IL to William F. and Susan (Fuller) Schefelbein and raised in Madison, WI and Sleepy Hollow, IL. Carrie graduated from Bradley University where she met her husband, Don. Carrie taught elementary school for 35 years in Germantown Hills where she lived. Carrie was an outstanding teacher and a master flower gardener. She loved dogs, especially her basset hounds. Carrie was a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood and a lifelong member of the Anglican Church.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Don; son, Ted (Beth); grandson, Edmund; granddaughter, Isabelle; twin-sister, Dr. Carol Schefelbein; sister, Meg (Duane) Angevine; her late sister, Beth (William) Martin; in-laws, Wes (the late Nancy) Koch, Galen (Joy) Koch and Dr. Stan (Jennifer) Koch; her nieces, Emily Angevine, Amy (Dan) Kelly, the late Rebecca Martin, Elizabeth (Kyle) Miller, Dr. Mary (Isaac) Imig, Jessica (Brian) Willoughby, Melissa (Nick) Georgas and her nephews, Andrew (Angela) Angevine, Jerad (Rachel) Koch and Jeff Koch.
A gathering of family and friends is set for Sunday, October 22nd from 1pm to 4pm at Chestnut Place, 805 S Chestnut St. in Tremont. A ceremony will take place later at St. Mark's Church in Geneva, IL. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter, Pekin, IL.
