Obituary Carolyn A. Wallace, 78, of Washington died at 5:35 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria. Born on April 17, 1928 in Ashley, IL to Harry Lester and Delma Bradley Ward, she married Donald E. Wallace on January 22, 1980; he survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Roxan (Henry) Slane, Jr. of Santa Fe, NM and Monte Ibler of Peoria; 1 son, Mark (Chris) Smith of Peoria; 1 step-daughter, Karla (Jerry) Hippen of Metamora; 1 step-son, Bryan (Shellie) Wallace of Peoria; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 1 step-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Harry, 1 sister, Eileen, and her parents. She had worked in restaurants and for the Washington Post Office for several years. She most recently worked for the Cottingham Property Management Company as a complex manager. She had been the secretary of Plaza Lanes Bowling League for many years, was the member of the American Legion Auxillary in Peoria, and was also a member of AARP. She was also a member of the Accredited Residential Managers Central Illinois Group and the Institute of Real Estate Management in Peoria, and was a former member of the Postal Clerks Union. Carolyn enjoyed bingo and fishing, and loved both the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, September 29, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, from 2-3 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A private burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
