Obituary East Peoria- Carolyn J. Underwood, 73, of East Peoria passed away at 11:15 PM on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on July 27, 1935 in Paragould, AR to Leland and Mildred G. (Grimes) Wells-Rowland. She married Gerald "Rick" Underwood on September 12, 1954. Surviving are 3 sons Geoff (Marie) Underwood of East Peoria, Scott (June) Underwood of Pekin, and Brett Underwood of Huntersville, NC; two daughters Denise Underwood and Lisa (Wayne) Slocum, both of East Peoria; and one grandson Taylor Slocum, also from East Peoria. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one grandson. Carolyn was a life-long resident of East Peoria and owned/operated Underwood's Motorcycle Shop for many years. She retired from IPM Corporation in East Peoria in 2000. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cloverleaf Chapter #1002. She was devoted to her family and loved crafts and working with flowers. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. A visitation will also be held from 5-7 PM prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
