Obituary Carolyn J. Huffman, 70, of Washington, died at 3:14am, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Carolyn was born May 5, 1943 in Peoria to F. Donald and Gladys E. Doering Gilles. She married Richard K. "Dick" Huffman on December 11, 1971 in Peoria; he preceded her in death on May 8, 1994. Surviving are her children, Diane (Mike) Murphy of Washington. Todd (Heather) Christian of San Diego, CA, and Jodi (Buzz) Frazee of Washington; grandchildren, Cole Christian, Richard Hunter, and Janelle Travis; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Gilles, Linda Beldon, Steven Gilles, and Sharon Graf; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Nancy Dalton, and 1 brother, Ronald Gilles. Carolyn graduated from Peoria's Academy of Our Lady in 1961. She worked as a switchboard operator at Bradley University from 1978-1999, and was a member of Washington Christian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to all who knew her. She will be missed by everyone. A funeral service for Carolyn will held at 11:00am, Saturday December 7, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, Washington. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday December 6, 2013 at the funeral home, and one half hour prior to the service on Friday. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Brimfield at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Christian Church or to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
