Obituary
Washington - Caroline L. Ward, 73, of Washington, died at 7:39 PM on Wednesday June 6, 2012 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born October 4, 1938 in Ceylon, MN to Carl S. and Evelyn Meyer Holm. She married Lloyd Allen Ward in Phoenix, AZ on December 6, 1958. He survives. Also surviving are three sons; Art (Yvonne) of Nokomis, IL, Carl (Anne) of St Charles, IL, Brad (Chaundra) of Spokane,WA, one daughter; Christina (George) Garcia of Washington, IL, and fourteen grandchildren. She was also survived by one brother, Calvin (Sherri) Holm of Phoenix, AZ and one sister, Lova (Karl) Kach of Everett, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Connie Daniel, and an infant son, Michael Ray Ward.
Caroline was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a high school softball pitcher that loved her children's and grandchildren's sports activities, especially baseball and softball. She enjoyed camping and travelling. She loved the friends she made in the Sunnyland and Washington area. She enjoyed the time she spent with friends in her cross-stitch group. She served on the Board of Directors for the Northern Tazewell Recreation Association (NTRA) and managed the concession stand. She loved the friends she made on various bowling teams at Plaza Lanes and the children she met while driving a school bus for District 50. She valued the love and support of the members of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Sunnyland where she was a member.
There will be a funeral service for Caroline on Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
