Obituary Carol Lee Starnes, 66, of Washington, IL died at 8:15 am Sunday, October 24, 2010 at her home. Born on April 16, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL to Ervin and Frances Soden Dunaway, she married Glen M. Starnes on August 30, 1969 in East St. Louis, IL. He survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Robin Leigh (Robert) Sloan of Washington, IL, Holly Anne (Benjamin) Koenig of Coon Rapids, MN, and Amber Lynn (Jon) Umsted of Olathe,KS, 6 grandchildren, Brandon Montgomery, Gabriella Umsted, Josie Sloan, Janie Sloan, Jack Sloan, and Chase Koenig, 2 sisters, Sandra (Dennis) Ryan of St. Peters, MO, Brenda Taylor of Dade City, FL, and 1 brother, Steve (Lisa) Dunaway of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carol taught part-time at Midstate College until the time of her retirement. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington, and was an active member of her Aquatic Aerobic Class at Five Points Washington. She excelled at being a wonderful homemaker, wife, mom, and grandma. Carol was the most unselfish person her family has ever known and will be greatly missed by her entire family. Services for Carol will be at 10 am Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Thomas Heren will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
