Obituary

Carla Jane Lamprecht, born April 9, 1955, passed away peacefully with family by her side in her East Peoria home on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Carla is survived by her daughters: Allison Canty, Saint Louis, Missouri and McKenzie Canty, Raleigh, North Carolina; sister, Paula (Tom) Wick; brother Jerry (Terrie) Lamprecht; sister-in-law Susan Lamprecht; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents: Lyle Lamprecht and Imogene (Piotrowski) Lamprecht; brother Ron Lamprecht; and her beloved pets, specifically Sophia Rose.

Carla was born in Peoria, Illinois to Lyle and Imogene Lamprecht and attended Farmington High School. After graduation, Carla enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard where she was honorably discharged.  She soon thereafter began her journey in criminal justice as a dispatcher for Peoria Heights, then began her 17-year career with the City of Peoria as a Police Officer.  She was the first female to work in the forensics laboratory before becoming a training officer for new recruits. Training recruits was a great source of pride in Carla's career. Her tenure sadly ended early due to medical retirement.

Carla was a proud entrepreneur and owned a cleaning business from which she retired in 2020.  During her retirement, Carla moved to North Carolina to enjoy the good weather and escape the snow before returning to Illinois. Carla shined brightest when helping people and animals.  Her love for her pets was never-ending. Her happy place was in the sun and sand at the beach with her daughters. Carla also found joy playing with her unofficial grandkids, watching The Golden Girls and crime dramas, and eating holiday shaped Reese's. Carla's pride and joy were her two children, Allison and McKenzie. She was so proud of the successful women Allison and McKenzie have become.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL, from 6:00pm-7:30pm. A memorial service shall follow at 7:30 PM, Rev. Carole Hoke and Rev. Lauren Padgett officiating.

Carla made the honorable decision for her body to be donated to science, as such, there will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, which Carla was extremely allergic to, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or SAMS (Stray Animal Midway Shelter) in Carla's name would be deeply appreciated; donation links can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
