Obituary WASHINGTON-Carl B. Strode, 59, of Washington, IL, formerly of Wenona, IL, died at 1:50 pm Monday, February 14, 2011 at his home. Born on April 6, 1951 in Streator, IL to Benton Ellsworth and Edith Margaret Viola Helander Strode, he married Lucy Lutz on December 31, 1990 in Wenona. She survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Trisha (Leon) Edwards of East Peoria, IL; 1 stepson, Eric Joop of Washington, IL, and 1 sister, Marie (David) Dickson of Naperville, IL. He loved and enjoyed his time with his two grandchildren, L.J. and Claire and was affectionately referred to as Papa Peppy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Carl graduated from University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. He farmed in Wenona for 26 years, retiring in 1999. Carl and Lucy then moved to Florida where Carl worked as a parts sales manager for RV's for 11 years. He last worked in the parts department for Stoller Implement in Pontiac, IL. Carl enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
