Obituary
EAST PEORIA -Carl R. Roth III, 63, of East Peoria, died at 2:15 PM on November 14, 2006 at his residence.
He was born on February 24, 1943 in Greenville, South Carolina to Carl R. and Evelyn M. Lawler Roth II. He married Judith A. Dobbs on June 25, 1966. She survives.
Surviving is one son, Carl R. (Angela) Roth IV, of East Peoria; one brother, Kerry (Minako) Roth, of Peoria; and two granddaughters, Kelsi and Jenni Ann Roth, both of East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Carl served as the Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of the State of Illinois in 2005 and 2006. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in Peoria Lodge No. 15 on July 26, 1982; served as Worshipful Master of Grandview Lodge No. 1112. He was exalted as a Royal Arch Mason, and served as Excellent High Priest of Peoria Chapter No. 7; was greeted as a Royal & Select Master in Peoria Council No.11; received the Super Excellent Master degree; served as Thrice Illustrious Master of Peoria Council No. 11; was dubbed a Knight Templar in Peoria Commandery No. 3; served as Commander of Peoria Commandery No. 3; was received into Illinois Priory No.11 as a Knight of the York Cross of Honor. Carl also was created a 328 Scottish Rite Freemason in the Valley of Peoria and was a past Sovereign Prince and currently served as a Consistory Officer; was created a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in Mohammed Shrine; and served as Pipe Major of the Kiltie Band. Carl was ordained into Pathros Tabernacle LVIII, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests. He received the degree of Knight of the East and West in Earl of Torell Council No. 24, Knight Masons, U.S.A. Received the degree of Knight of the Red Cross of Constantine in St. Helena Conclave and currently served as Viceroy; initiated into Shadrach Bond Council No. 272, Allied Masonic Degrees, A member and Officer of York Rite College No. 42. He was awarded honorary membership in the Illinois Preceptory of the Legion of Honor by the Order of DeMolay of Illinois.
Carl was a lifelong member of Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Carl served for 6 years with the US Air Force. He worked as a kitchen and bath design consultant for 35 years and last worked for K.B.L. Design Center in Peoria. Carl also was an avid bowler and bowled a 300 game.
A visitation will be held from 3-5 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home 444 E. Washington Street in East Peoria with a Honor Guard provided by the York Rite Commandery.
Masonic rites will be accorded at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
