Obituary
Carl G. Johnson, 63, of Washington, IL died at 5:53 am Saturday, March 5, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born on June 19, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, MI, to Harry A. and Esther V. Poet Johnson, he married Lynn M. Zilisch on June 13, 1970 in Fox Point, WI. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer (Patrick) Eriksen of Sugar Grove, IL, 1 son Todd (Renee) Johnson of Yorkville, IL, 4 grandchildren, Nicholas and Ava Eriksen and Ethan and Tyler Johnson, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Carl was a US Air Force veteran serving from 1966 to 1970, where he served with the military police in D'Nang, Vietnam.
He graduated from East Peoria High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Management from Sangamon State College in May of 1979. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 43 years retiring as a Supplier Development Engineer on March 1, 2009.
Carl was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington where he led a contemporary music service once a month for many years and also taught high school Sunday School for several years. He enjoyed all aspects of music, computers, golf, and fishing.
A memorial celebration of Carl's life will be at 7 pm Monday, March 7, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor John Rothfutz will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private burial will be held at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
