Callan Kenneth Letcher, 17, beloved son of Paul and Jennifer, and beloved brother of Olivia, Avery, Donovan and Eden, passed away as the result of injuries received in a traffic accident on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
To know Callan was to know joy. He was unconditionally kind to everyone. Callan's easy manner, charm and grace impacted everyone he met. He loved his family fiercely. He chose to spend much of his time with them. More than family, they were best friends.
Callan enjoyed a lifelong love of soccer. Starting team soccer at age 4, he played for the Washington Park District, Peoria Legends, and John Gaspar Soccer Academy. During high school, Callan played for the Washington Panthers, first as a defender and most recently as goalie. He was looking forward to being the varsity goalie during his upcoming senior year. In addition to playing soccer, Callan earned his certification and worked as a soccer referee.
Callan attended Washington Community High School and was an outstanding student. He was a member of the Chess Club, Scholastic Bowl, and French Club. This summer, Callan was teaching robotics to elementary students within the Peoria Public School District.
