Obituary

Burdette F. Maske, 93, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Hallmark House in Pekin.

Burdette was born on December 27, 1928 in Colfax, IL to Forrest and Goldie Maske. He married Holland Faye Crawford of Mississippi on February 11, 1956.  They had two children during their 25 year marriage.  He later married Ana Fe Oyao Abraham, from the Philippines, on July 7, 1993.  They shared 29 years together.

Surviving are his wife, Ana Fe; children, Teresa (Scott) Schilling of East Peoria and Randal (Anne) Maske of Creve Coeur; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Kinze) Schilling, Jarod (Julia) Schilling, and Amy Maske (fiancé Brandon Wolstenholme), Katie (Sean) McLaughlin, Jacob, Benjamin, Gavin, and Rachael Maske; and nine great-grandchildren!

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Fern L. Noble; and granddaughter, Renee Christine Schilling

Burdette graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School in 1946. He then spent 3 years in military service; two of them in Germany.  He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 5 years in the 1950's and then joined the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1956.  Burdette delivered mail by vehicle for 33 years, retiring in 1989.

He was admitted into the Exclusive Letter Carriers Safety Club having driven over 30 years without a preventative accident! Burdette was dedicated to his job, having worked 13 consecutive years without calling in sick or being late for work.

Burdette was a sports enthusiast. Upon graduating from high school, he was given a brief tryout with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team at the old Sportsman's Park in St. Louis.

Burdette traveled to many countries - military service in Germany, Switzerland, Venezuela, two trips to Hawaii, four trips to the Philippine Islands, Canada, and the USA!

Burdette and Ana Fe were longtime members of the Filipino-American Society of Central Illinois, and they have many Filipino friends who have become like family.

A celebration of life will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.  Military Honors and a time of sharing memories will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be St. Labre Indian School or a charity of the donor's choice.
