Obituary

Brian S. Faulkner, 48, of Washington, passed away at 11:25 am Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Brian was born April 30, 1973, in Davenport, IA, to Fred C. and Judy A. Freeborn Faulkner.  He married Julie Tomhave on July 19, 1997, in Jacksonville; she survives.

Also surviving are their three sons, Luke Thomas Faulkner, Jacob "Jake" Ronald Faulkner, and Nicholas "Nick" Ryan Faulkner, all at home; his parents, Fred and Judy of Morton; his siblings, Mark (Jaimie) Faulkner of Bloomington, Kimberly (Brian) Oamek of Sun Prairie, WI; his mother-in-law, Donna Tomhave of Pittsfield; brother-in-law, Brad (McKenzie) Tomhave of Pittsfield; and his nephews, Charlie and Augie Faulkner, Connor and Garrett Oamek, and Cade, Brennan, and Brody Tomhave.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law, Ronald Tomhave.

Brian grew up in rural Illinois City, Illinois, and graduated from Rockridge High School in Edgington, Illinois.  He was a proud University of Illinois graduate, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Architectural Studies in 1996 as well as his dual Masters Degrees in Architectural Studies and Civil Engineering in 2002.  He first worked as an intern and then licensed architect for BLDD Architects in Decatur before starting his career with PJ Hoerr, Inc. in 2004, where he was a Senior Project Manager.  He was a member and past president of the Greater Peoria Contractors and Suppliers Association, and received several industry awards and certifications over the years.  He loved his work, his company, and took great pride in every detail of every project.  Over the years, he managed countless area projects, including Five Points Washington, Central Primary and Intermediate School, Crossroads United Methodist Church, HeartCare Midwest, and recent additions to Washington Community High School.

On Saturdays, if he wasn't out watching his sons in their activities, you could find him near a TV watching College Game Day.  He was an Illini fan and loved watching college football, basketball, and baseball.  Baseball was his favorite sport, and he was an avid Yankees fan.  Brian was passionate about life and every aspect of it.  He was thoughtful and considerate, and believed in a strong work ethic and respecting others.  He could always be counted on to stir laughter in others with his quick wit.  The biggest piece of him was his family; everything he did centered around them.  He was a loving husband, an amazing dad, a wonderful son, a caring brother and son in law, and a proud uncle.  His deep love and warm spirit will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.

Family will receive guests from 5-8:00 pm Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  A funeral service for Brian will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he was a member.  Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Julie Faulkner for the benefit of Luke, Jake, and Nick's education funds.  Brian wanted them to pursue their dreams and find their passion, just as he did.
