Brett M. Rickett, 60, of Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

He was born October 27, 1965 in Peoria, Illinois to A.A. and Carolyn J. (DePoister) Rickett.  His mother, Carolyn Dentino survives.

Also surviving are his two children, Desiree Rickett and Daniel Rickett; brother, Kory (Brenda) Rickett; sister, Amy (Brad) Chapman; along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Brett was an Army Veteran serving in the ROTC in college. Following college he worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria as an electrician for many years before retiring due to his health.

Brett was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington where he also served as a former board member.  While growing up he enjoyed playing chess and bicycle riding and was on a local Chess Club and was a bicycle road racer for many years.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded.  There will be a Memorial Service at 2pm on Monday, February 2, 2026 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Dr. Camilla Hempstead officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church on Monday.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his church.
