Obituary

Obituary Brenda "Sue" Williams, 77, of Washington, formerly of East Peoria, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 6:17 am Monday, August 7, 2017 at Morningside of Washington. Sue was born February 22, 1940 in Independence, IN to Dale and Dorothy Haynes, and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Elizabeth "Betty" and John "Jack" Haynes. She married Charles "Chuck" Williams December 22, 1979; he survives. Also surviving are her children, Ellen (Doug) Henderson of Dunlap, Kent Hooker of Jenison, MI, Todd (Amie) Hooker of San Diego, CA; step-sons, Scott (Vickie) Williams of Washington and Mike (Alissa) Williams of Morton; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha and Betty Haynes; and several nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Billy Sam and John Allen Haynes. Sue graduated from Pine Village High School in Indiana in 1958 and moved to Illinois in 1961. When her children were young, she was a homemaker and was active in her church and Christian women's groups and Bible studies. When her children were older, she worked in sales, marketing, and administration for several companies in the Peoria area. After marrying Chuck, she was blessed to add two stepsons, thereby raising five children who were teenagers all at the same time! Sue trusted in Jesus as her Savior and she had a passion for prayer and encouraging others. She was also a previous member of Mossville United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Peoria. Sue found joy in many things, including spending time with family, reading and writing poetry, singing and listening to music, and enjoying nature. She told her family, "I love nature and when I die and you see a butterfly, see me on the wings of the butterfly." We are thankful that like the butterfly, she has a new body in heaven. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Morningside of Washington assisted living facility for loving and caring for Mom the past five years. Although Sue's health had declined, she still remembered all her family and friends from throughout her years in Indiana and Illinois and was grateful for all of you. A funeral service for Sue will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory at 2075 Washington Road, Washington, IL . Visitation will be held from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
