Brad E. Birkner, 55, of Washington, passed away at 12:20 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home. He was born July 9, 1964 in Peoria to Edward and Juanita Smith Birkner. They survive of Washington. Also surviving are his sisters, Trina (Nick) Jack of Morton, Angela (Tim) McElyea of East Peoria; two nephews, Kyle McElyea, Alistair Jack; and niece, Allyson McElyea. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Brad graduated from Washington High School and received his bachelors of science degree from Western Illinois University. He worked at K-mart for 23 years until its closing then worked at Caterpillar Inc. He enjoyed building and operating remote control planes and cars, cooking, disc golf and loved all sports. Private services will be held with burial at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to T.A.P.S. in Pekin, or to a charity of donors choice.
