Obituary

Bonnie Sullivan, 80, of Washington, passed away at 12:40am Friday, November 5, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born October 31, 1941 in Strathcona, MN to the late Philip and Mabel Johnson Stromlund. She married Donald Sullivan on July 8, 1962 in Peoria; he preceded her in death in 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Michele Sullivan and DeAnn (Bob) Sullivan-Reed, both of Washington; and a brother, Kermit Stromlund of East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Brett and Barry Sullivan; and a sister, Patricia Graham. Bonnie was the most loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was the backbone to her family in every way. While many think of her as being a quiet woman, she was so strong in many ways. She taught us to be loving, compassionate, face our fears, be confident and resilient. She taught us that making memories was the most important part of life. As a family, we made so many memories together as we traveled the world. Many of the memories involved laughter and/or things not going according to plan and turning for the best. While greatly afraid of heights and water, she went skydiving, parasailing, and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef with DeAnn in her 60's! She loved to read and eat out. Bonnie worked 27 years as a bookkeeper with Eurest Dining at Bradley University. It was Williams Hall employees celebrating her Halloween birthday by dressing for the holiday that started all of the Bradley employees to dress up. Bonnie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. She held her faith strongly. Her sweet personality will be so missed by many. A funeral service for Bonnie will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, and will be livestreamed. Pastor JR Kerr will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Tuesday. November 9, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peoria Rescue Mission, the Little People of America (Scholarship Fund or First Time Convention Fund), or the Boys and Girls Club of Peoria.
