Obituary
Robert "Bob" Keckler, 73, of McAllen, TX, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away at 8:20pm, Saturday December 20, 2014 at the Comfort House in McAllen.
Bob was born July 12, 1941 in Peoria, to George and Florence Michels Keckler. He married BJ Krumholz in, and she preceded him in death. He later married Glennis Martin Watson on October 9, 1993; she survives.
Also surviving are 3 children, Lori Sager, Bobbi Jo Keckler, and Ed Keckler; 4 step-children, Kevin Watson, Scott Watson, Lori Temple, and Marty Watson; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents and a brother, Michael Keckler.
Bob attended Eureka College and served in the US Navy, where he was stationed at the Great Lakes. He served on the Bartonville Police Department before working in security at Caterpillar. After his initial retirement, he worked in the Police Department at the University of Houston and returned to Cat, retiring in 2005 as a Captain. Bob was member of the American Legion Posts in Chillicothe and Havana, St. Anthony Church in Bartonville, and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He had been living in McAllen year round for the last two years after enjoying several winters there with his wife.
A funeral Mass will be held at noon, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm, Friday, December 26, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria, and a half prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary's of Lourdes Cemetery in rural Metamora. Military honors will be rendered, and Monsignor Stanley Deptula will officiate.
