Obituary

Obituary Bob Delaney, 84 of East Peoria, passed away peacefully at 4:00pm, Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Riverview Retirement Home, surrounded by his family. Bob was born September 24, 1929 in Anniston, Missouri to Ollie and Mildred Stacy Delaney. He married Margaret "Polly" Byran on January 28, 1950 in Mariana, Arkansas; she survives at home. Also surviving are 2 sons; Steve (Barb) Delaney of Morton, Mike (Evon) Tatum of Washington, 2 daughters; Jeanie Cannon of Washington, Ramona (Dan) Bunting of Morton; 7 grandchildren and 13-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill McKinley. Bob graduated from Anniston High School in 1947. After graduation, he served 4 years in the United States Navy where he played basketball. He was a tremendous athlete and was offered a tryout for the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved family, friends, fishing, gardening and cooking. Bob worked pipeline his entire career and he was respected throughout the industry. He also worked on construction projects such as the Glen Canyon Dam and the St. Lawrence Seaway. He attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. Funeral services for Bob will be held at 10:30am, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-5:00pm, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, East Peoria and one hour prior to the service. Pastor Phil Schneider will officiate.
