Obituary
Betty Ann Klaus, 77, of Washington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:27PM at her residence.
Betty was born June 3, 1937 in Chicago to George and Anna Keller Haas. She married John Henry Klaus on June 3, 1959 in South Elgin. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ed Haas; and one son, Samuel Klaus.
Betty is survived by her four sons, Andrew (Jana) Klaus of Japan, Mark (Rebekah) Klaus of Tanner, AL, Tim (Susan) Klaus of Corpus Christi, TX, Daniel (Rebekah) Klaus of Seymour, IN; five daughters Faith Klaus of Washington, Melody Klaus of Washington, Grace Klaus of Japan, Hope (Takehide) Itoh of Japan and Joy Klaus of Washington; two sisters, Lenora (Larry) Leveen of Palmer, AK and Virginia (Michael) Cummings of Sonora, CA; and seventeen grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Amy, Elizabeth, Charity, Nathan, John, Natalie, Lexi, Samuel, Paul, James, David, Berea, and Josiah.
Betty and her husband John lived and worked as missionaries in Japan for forty years. Her heart's desire was for everyone to know the love of Jesus and be saved. She enjoyed writing poems, booklets, and letters, encouraging and inspiring many people.
Betty was a member of the Washington Apostolic Christian Church, where the funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, March 8. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00PM on Saturday, March 7 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. There will be an additional visitation from 12:00-12:45PM on Sunday. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Roanoke.
