Obituary MORTON - Betty B. Engle, 84, of Morton died at 11:25 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Betty was born on Sept. 14, 1929, to Joseph O. and Ruth Schelm Engle in Millville, N.J. Surviving are her one brother, Joseph O. (Juanice) Engle of Dallas, Texas; one brother-in-law, William Schlesinger of Peoria; one sister-in-law, Carol Engle of East Peoria; three nieces, Jane (Lonnie) Counterman of East Peoria, Mary Ann Engle of Louisville, Texas, and Susan (John) Wisneski of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four nephews, Robert (Marie) Schlesinger and Greg Engle, both of East Peoria, William Schlesinger Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Joseph O. (Cheryl) Engle III of Wimbery, Texas. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Eugene Tack Engle; and one sister, Mary Lou Schlesinger. Betty was a 1947 graduate of Woodruff High School. She worked for Braniff as a flight attendant, retiring in 1989. She also worked as a receptionist for Sun County Airlines in Minneapolis, Minn., for four years. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at a later date at Springdale Cemetery.
