Bettijean L. Wiegand, 80, of East Peoria, passed away at home, with her family present, on Friday, November 29, 2024.

She was born September 20, 1944 in Glens Falls, NY to the late Leon and Shirley Duross Dessaint. She married Donald J. Wiegand in 1964 at Nahunta, GA; he preceded her in death July 1, 2024.

Surviving are their children, Valarie Wiegand of East Peoria and Darrell (Emily) Wiegand of Crestview, Fl; her grandchildren, Roniya Wiegand-Scott, and Natalie and Paige Wiegand; her three dogs and cat.

Bettijean had a soft heart for all animals. She cared for all types of pets and wildlife over the years, but her dogs were a constant, even grooming for a time. Always meticulous and orderly, she enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in East Peoria. With her husband, she enjoyed being active, even bowling together.

A service to honor her life will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory. Inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in East Peoria.
