Obituary Metamora - Bette Jane Laughlin, 95, of Metamora, IL, formerly of West Peoria passed away at 12:00 AM, on Friday November 23, 2012 at Snyder Village in Metamora. Bette Jane was born on September 14, 1917 in Peoria to Frederick A. and Lenora Sheelor Decker. Bette Jane married Raymond R. Laughlin on December 6, 1940 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1981, in Peoria. Surviving is one son, Ray (Betty) Laughlin of Washington and two granddaughters, Emily (Alex) Mueller and Erica Laughlin, both of Washington. Betty Jane graduated from Manual Training High School in 1935. After graduation, Bette Jane worked in the Parts Department at Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL. Bette Jane was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where she was active in Miriam's Circle, Peoria Historical Society, Willow Knolls Country Club, where she was a charter member, and The Society of Engineer's Wives at Caterpillar Inc., where she was also a charter member. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private entombment will be at the Springdale Cemetery Mausoleum in Peoria.
