Obituary
Bernita "Bee" E. Otto, 91, of Washington, passed away at 11:53pm Friday, February 19, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Bee was born April 26, 1924 in Canton, IL to the late Charles and Luella Burkholder Otto.
She is survived by her beloved friend, Eileen Carroll, with whom she made her home for many years; 6 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Leona Gardenhour and LaFerne Gardenhour, and a brother, Ralph Otto.
Bee was an elementary school teacher in Maryland and Illinois for 12 years. She then worked as an employment assistance at Caterpillar for 30 years, until her retirement in 1986. She was a member at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. She enjoyed traveling and was quite lucky at various casinos. Bee was one of a kind, and left great memories for her family and friends, whom she loved.
A funeral service for Bee will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Youngshim Pitcher will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
