Barry. R. Osborn, 86, of Washington, passed away at 1:10pm Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Barry was born September 30, 1934 in Rosamond, IL to Otis R. and Gladys Pray Osborn. He married Barbara A. Hagood on September 1, 1957 in Rosamond.
He was preceded in death by his son Kris Osborn in 2012, his brothers, Forrest (Jean), Robert, and Richard Osborn and his parents.
Surviving is his wife, Barb, of Washington; his children and grandchildren: daughter Lisa (Dan) Heinz of Peoria and their children, Andy (Rachel), Brendan (Felicia) and Lexie Heinz; daughter Courtney Junker of Washington and her children, Jacob and Emily Junker; and son Nathan (Kate) Osborn of Johnson Creek, WI and their children, Eddie, Beanie, and Maisy Osborn; and Kris' children, Chelsea, Miranda and Teagan Osborn; his twin brother, Larry (Mary) Osborn; and sisters-in-law Gloria and Mauricette Osborn.
Barry graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and served in the US Army. He went on to work many years at International Harvester, retiring in 1979, and later owned a grocery store. In 1982, he moved to Washington, working for Case and finally retiring from Commerce Bank in Roanoke. He was a longtime member of Washington Christian Church and enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels. Barry had a special wit and sense of humor that he loved to share and played several instruments by ear, including the harmonica and fiddle. He was happiest when he was "down home" at the family farm and enjoyed hunting and fishing there or simply catching up with family and friends. Most important to him was his family, and he cherished time spent with them.
Visitation will be from 3-5:00pm Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Monday, June 7, 2021 at Washington Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
