Barbara A. Parks, 83, of Washington, passed away at 2:55 pm Monday, May 14, 2018 in Peoria. She was born Aug. 7, 1934 in West Frankfort, IL to James and Ella Mae Baker Rennie. She married Benjamin C. Parks Sr. in West Frankfort on Jan. 6, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ben Jr. on Aug. 25, 2014; 2 brothers, Billie Gene Rennie, James Rennie; and 2 sisters, Eva Mae Callies and LaJoan Rennie. Surviving are 5 children, Brenda (Ronal) Willis of East Peoria, Sharon Hrovatin of Washington, Tony (Kelly) Parks of Atlanta, GA, Angie (Carl) Murray of Washington, Tami Parks of Pekin; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 1 sister, Donna Harris of OK. Barb worked at Washington Christian Village and Fondulac Nursing Home before retiring. She was a former member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bulls fan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad or American Cancer Society. Her funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday, May 18, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
