Obituary EAST PEORIA- Barbara Ann McMurtrey, 73, of Crocker, MO, formerly of East Peoria passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 3:51PM at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Mo. She was born April 7, 1941 in Lexington, TN to Claude L. and Gussie J. Wilkins McCollum. She married Virgil McMurtrey on October 12, 1959 in Crocker, MO. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Larry (Shelly) McMurtrey and Shelley (Andy) Nordwall, all of Peoria; three grandchildren, Gregory (Kristina) McMurtrey of Bartonville, Ryan (Natalie) McMurtrey of Chicago, and Kyle McMurtrey of Washington; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Kelley; siblings, Tony McCollum of Sunnyland and Beverly McCollum of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, Gregory Lee. She graduated from East Peoria High School in 1959. Barb began her working career as a bookkeeper for World Drug Store in Peoria. She last worked as a bookeeper at Mount Hawley Manufacturing in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. A memorial service for Barb will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 4:00PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Ben VanKuren will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
