Obituary Barbara L. Hickam, 80, of Washington, died at 5:20 AM, on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Proctor Hospital. Born August 10, 1925, in Alto Pass, IL to Lee and Edna Lilly. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and her parents. Surviving is one son, John L. Hickam of Washington, IL. Barbara was a teacher in schools in Union, St. Clair and Tazewell counties, retiring in 1986. She received Bachelor and Masters degrees from Bradley University. She was a member and past president of Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary teacher sorority, and Pi Kappa Sigma sorority, Tazewell County Retired Teachers, Illinois Association of Retired Teachers and AARP. She was a past president of Business and Professional Women's Club and past member of the Order of Easter Star. A member and Elder of Sunnyland Christian Church, having been a former member of the First Baptist Church of Alto Pass. At Barbara's request cremation has been accorded. There will be no service or visitation. Private burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to her church.
