Barbara A. Evans, 84, of Washington, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born January 22, 1938 in Ottawa to the late Leon and Ann M. Smetanko Latham. She married John M. Evans on January 19, 1974; he preceded her in death on February 17, 2018.

Surviving are her daughters, Melody Wilson of East Peoria, Brenda (Ronald) Cawley of Springfield, and Heidi Evans of Hopedale; grandchildren, Sarah (Paul) Habriga, April (Bryan) Murphy, and Matt Wilson; great-grandchildren, Cruise, Henry, Coralie, and Bella; and her two sisters, Charlene Hawthorne and Susan Latham.

Barbara graduated from Streator High School in 1956 and then graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing at St. Francis University in Joliet in 1959. She was a nurse for 34 years, retiring from Methodist Medical Center in 1993 after 23 years of service. Barbara had a zest for life, she enjoyed wintering at Lake Wales, FL for over 20 years, keeping busy, and hitting the boat every now and then. She was a Disney fan and loved to travel and spend time with family.

A private funeral Mass will be held and interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
