B. Jeanne Welch, 97, of Washington, passed away at 2am Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
She was born July 1, 1924 in Springfield, IL to Robert Lynn and Mary Leona Muscat Kessler. She married James S. Welch II on June 13, 1948 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, James III; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Kelly.
Surviving are ten children, William (Catherine), John (Denise), Michael (Lori), Peter, Patrick (Cyndi), Mark (Debbie), Julie Stewart (Dave Hays), Nancy Pruitt, Thomas (Carolyn), Timothy (Carla); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carole (Bill) Nerone.
Jeanne worked at Schulze Baking Company in Springfield for 7 years and then owned and operated The Fabric Nook in Washington for 17 years from 1979 to 1996. Her greatest job, however, was being a wife and a mother to her 11 children.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington and was in the Women's Guild.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to Mass from 9:30 to 11:30 am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
