Arthur C. "Art" Smith Sr., 84, of Metamora, IL and formerly of Washington, IL died at 3:28 am Friday, December 18, 2020 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on January 12, 1936 in Moline, IL to Victor and Sarah Downing Smith, he married Judith Hogan on November 11, 1958. He later married Patricia Irish on April 9, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2001. He then married Jane Frantz on December 10, 2005 in East Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death by 9 days on December 9, 2020. Surviving are 5 children; Arthur C. "Chuck" (Debbie) Smith Jr., Jerry (Destiny) Smith, Lisa Bennett-Batache, David (Lisa) Deeb, and Lori (Darin) O'Berry, 2 stepdaughters; Linda Irish and Karen Irish, and 1 stepson; Tim (Mary) Frantz, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by 1 stepdaughter, Dana Frantz, 1 grandchild, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. He worked as a Dental Technician for Krause Dental Lab in Peoria for 10 years and then worked for Dynamic Graphics in the Maintenance Building from 1976 to 1988. Following that, he worked at Altorfer CAT in East Peoria doing building maintenance for 17 years, until he retired. Art was a member of East Peoria First United Methodist Church and a member of the Singleton's Group, where he met Jane. He was a proud Menard's VIP. Due to Covid-19, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorials service for he and his late wife, Jane, will be at a later date. Inurnment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to East Peoria First United Methodist Church or to Snyder Village Resident in Need Fund.
