Obituary WASHINGTON - Anthony D. "Tony" Antonacci, 93, of Washington, IL, died at 11:20 pm Monday, July 19, 2010 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. Born on February 4, 1917 in Toluca, IL to Dominic and Concetta Bartolomucci Antonacci, he married Elizabeth J. "Betty" Kemp on January 9, 1954 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2010 in Peoria, IL. Surviving are 3 children; Jim (Marilyn) Antonacci of St. Louis, MO, Ed (Antoinette) Antonacci of Fontana, CA, and Rosemary (Dave) Marion of Mt. Carmel, IL, 5 grandchildren; Jennifer Page, Christopher Antonacci, Lewis Antonacci, Jonathan Marion, and Daniel Marion, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. Tony was a graduate of Spalding Institute in Peoria, where he was a star basketball player. He then worked at Hiram Walker Distillery. He later completed the apprenticeship program at Caterpillar Tractor Co., and then the day after the attack at Pearl Harbor, Tony joined the US Navy where he served for more than 2 years. After World War II, he returned to Caterpillar Tractor Co. where he worked as a tooling investigator and a buyer in the Purchasing Department for 37 years, retiring in 1979. He was an active past member of the TPA (Travelers Protective Association), where he served as Chairman. He was also a past member of the SME, Society of Manufacturing Engineers. An avid golfer, he played on several leagues at Hillcrest Golf Course in Washington. Tony was also considered an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was always active in his children and grandchildren's activities, liked attending ballgames, and was a favorite with his extended family, where he was known as "Uncle Tony". Services will be at 10 am Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Father Joseph P. Donton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, July 23, 2010 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
