Obituary
Anne Monica Ray, 91, of East Peoria, IL died at 8:15 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Anna Monika Trentman on February 17, 1926 in Artern, Germany, a little city just outside of Berlin, to Johanes Henry and Grete Paula Krebs Trentman. She married Everett A. Ray Jr. on July 24, 1948 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are her son, Thomas E. Ray, daughter-in-law, Wendy D. Ray, and one granddaughter, Monica Elaine Ray, all of East Peoria, two grandsons, Matthew Blake Franklin of Marshal, MO and Tyson Cole Franklin of Columbia, MO.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Anne Ray Franklin on June 4, 1991.
Anne was a first and second grade teacher for 35 years at Bolin School in District #86 in East Peoria. She touched hundreds of young minds and was nominated for Teacher of the Year in the State of Illinois in 1991. Anne was also chosen as an Art Consultant, one of two people, to represent the State of Illinois in Washington, D.C. After her retirement, she continued teaching her passion as an art instructor for the Tremont School District and was also a long time member of the Illinois Education Association.
A memorial service for Anne will be at 3 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Rev. Jim Gorby will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Because of Anne's love of animals, memorials may be made to TAPS.
