Obituary EAST PEORIA - Anna Loretta Wenzel, 87, of East Peoria, IL, died at 1:05 am Thursday, September 16, 2010 at her home. Born on July 26, 1923 in Bowman, N.D. to James L. and Catherine E. Koenig Burke, she married Lewis J. "Pinky" Wenzel, Sr. on October 9, 1947 in East Peoria. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1975. Surviving are her son, Lewis "Joe" Wenzel and her daughter, Janet Wenzel, both of East Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Phyllis Lowy, Marie McDaniel, Sister Catherine Burke and 1 brother, James Burke. Loretta was the office manager at Dr. Howard A. Lowy's office for many years. She was a member of St. Monica's Church in East Peoria where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, the bowling league, and pinocle league. Loretta also volunteered on the funeral committee. She was a member of the VFW Post #2078 Auxiliary in East Peoria and a former member of the American Business Women's Association. A funeral mass for Loretta will be at 9:30 am Monday, September 20, 2010 at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria. Visitation will be 5-7 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Deiters Funeral and Crematory in Washington, with a rosary service at 6:45 pm. Additional visitation will be held hour prior to mass at church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
