Obituary
WASHINGTON--Anna Ruth Hayes, 81, of Washington, died at 12:29 AM, on Monday, May 7, 2007 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL.
She was born on October 7, 1925 in Peoria, Illinois to Manassa E. and Ellen S. Getz Eberhardt. She married Paul H. Hayes on February 20, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois; he preceded her in death on January 20, 2003 in Morton.
Surviving is 1 daughter, Sally (Randy) Knecht of Washington, IL; 2 sons, Steve Hayes of Chillicothe, IL, and Timothy (Janis) Hayes of Deer Creek, IL; 2 sisters, Ella "Mazie" (Harlan) Thomas of Peoria, IL and Lois Eberhardt of Peoria, IL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Anna had worked as a cook at Washington Community High School. She also worked at K-Mart in Peoria, but her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
She was a long-time current member of Home Extension, and was also a member of the Christian Women's Club, and had been a Cub Scout, Girl Scout and Brownies Leader.
Anna was a member of Grace Bible Church in Washington, IL where she taught Sunday School, worked in the craft department for VBS and was recently honored as a longtime member of the Women's Missionary.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Grace Bible Church. The Rev. Tim Ward will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, from 10-11 AM at the church. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL.
