Obituary Ann M. Romack, 83, of Washington, IL, died at 9:18 pm Friday, April 19, 2013 at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL. Born on October 14, 1929 near New Baden, IL, to Frank and Mathilda Griesbaum Vollmer, she married George A. Romack on June 10, 1952 in Millstadt, IL. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2012 in Peoria, IL. Surviving are 3 daughters, Jane (Dale) Dobbins of Morton, IL, Cathy Romack (Gordon Johnson) of Northridge, CA, Mary (Jeff) Phillips of Sugar Grove, IL, 3 sons, George Romack (Betty Frost), Matthew (Carol) Romack, and James Romack, all of Washington, IL, 3 grandchildren, Justin, Jason, and Jordan Phillips, 7 step-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Magdalene Hermeling of Millstadt, IL, Dorothy Korte Feld (Don) of Belleville, IL, 1 brother, Frank E. (Mildred) Vollmer of Belleville, IL, and 2 grand-dogs, Maxine and Albert. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Mark Romack and 1 sister, Margaret Wilken. Ann worked as a civilian clerical worker at Scott Air Force Base for several years prior to being married. She enjoyed raising her family, visiting with her grandsons, canning, cooking, and sewing. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where she was an active member of the Quilt Club for many years. She was also a volunteer at the St. Patrick School Learning Center and a member of the TOPS club. A funeral mass for Ann will be at 10 am Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, and a hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
