Obituary WASHINGTON- Allen Shepherd, 63, of Washington passed away on Wednesday, December 09, 2015 at 3:45A.M at his residence. Allen was born on January 29, 1952 in Knoxville, IL to Harold and Donna Sipes Shepherd. He married Peggy Jones on November 25, 1972 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are his sons, Chris (Tracie) Shepherd of St. Louis and Ben (Diane) Shepherd of Knoxville, IL; two granddaughters, Grace and Mackenzie; one brother, Gale (Lori) Shepherd of Knoxville; and sister-in-law, Denise Shepherd of Knoxville. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Shepherd. He was a graduate of Monmouth College where he excelled in sports. He was inducted in their Hall of Fame in 2007 for both baseball and football. He lettered 6 times during his time there. He was also a respected golfer. Allen had a successful career at Caterpillar, retiring in 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington or Five Points Washington. A memorial service for Allen will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00P.M. at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Jason Woolever will officiate. There will be a visitation on Friday at the church from 5:00P.M.-7:00P.M. and an additional visitation on Saturday, a half hour prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
