Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Alfred E. "Al" Vogelsang, 98, of East Peoria, died at 8:45 AM on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, IL. Born on December 29, 1909 in East Peoria to Martin and Anna Steiner Vogelsang, he married Minnie E. Parnham on December 22, 1928 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death in March 2001 in East Peoria. Surviving are his son, Allan (Lynne) Vogelsang and his daughter, Marie (Don) Meyer, both of East Peoria; 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Al worked in the Layout Department for Caterpillar, Inc. before retiring in 1949. He then became the owner and operator of Vogelsang Heating from 1949 until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of the Hilton Masonic Lodge #1143 AF & AM in East Peoria, where he had been a Past Master. Al was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church in East Peoria. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 27, at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Bill Lakota-Eastin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, March 26 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
