Obituary Alfred Rudolph "Al" Biagini, 76, of 909 Chelsea Place, Washington, IL, died on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Mr. Biagini was born on May 7, 1931, in Toluca, IL, the youngest son of Primo and Angelina Santi Biagini, immigrants from Italy who settled in Toluca. He married Gloria Bernice Gassler of Cullom, IL on September 12, 1959. She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Theresa (Eric) Mickels and Ms. Nancy Biagini, both of Washington, IL, four sons, Mr. Bernard Biagini of Lafayette, CO, Mr. Michael (Diana) Biagini, of Washington, IL, Mr. James Biagini of Franklin, TN, and Mr. Alan (Lori) Biagini of Washington, IL. He is also survived by three grandsons, two granddaughters, four step grandchildren, his sister, Mrs. Leah (Roger) Bakel, sister in law, Mrs. Rita Biagini, and his brother in law, Mr. Jack Bernardi. Mr. Biagini was preceded in chapter eternal by his parents, his brother Dan and sister Alma. Al was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Toluca High School, Brown's Business School of Peoria and the Graduate School of the Savings and Loan Institute of the University of Indiana. Mr. Biagini worked in purchasing for St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL before settling into the Data Processing profession. Al joined State Farm where he was a computer programmer. He was a long time executive as a Vice President of Information Systems at First Federal Savings and Loan of Peoria, Talman Home Savings, and Champion Federal Savings and Loan, retiring in 1993. He pioneered the use of banking terminals, leading First Federal Savings to be one of the first adapters of the modern Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). Mr. Biagini was a member of the Data Processing Management Association where he held multiple officer positions. Al was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL, a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Northern Illinois Bocce Ball Association. He enjoyed playing bocce on the local tournament circuit, cooking, watching sporting events, collecting coins, was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and University of Illinois sports teams. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a short prayer service at 7:45 PM at Deiters Funeral Home, 2075 Washington Road, Washington, IL. A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 18, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 705 E. Jefferson Street, Washington, IL. Father Joseph P. Donton will officiate. He will be laid to rest at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Toluca in a ceremony at 1:00 PM that afternoon. Military rites will be accorded. A luncheon will follow at Mona's Italian Restaurant, 202 North Main Street, Toluca, after the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to St. Patrick Church or School, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or a charitable organization of the donor's choice.
