Obituary WASHINGTONa"Albert Edward Patterson, 70, of Washington, died at 2:44 AM on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born on December 12, 1937 in Ft. Madison, IA, to Clyde Albert and Leona Gay Jones Patterson, he married LaVerne E. Essig on May 5, 1957 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. She survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Joan Elise Patterson of Washington; 1 granddaughter, Brooke Elise Patterson of Washington; 1 sister, Patricia (Raymond) Mueller of Bakewell, TN; and 1 brother, Franklin (Linda) Patterson of Ava, MO. Al was preceded in death by 1 nephew, Michael Patterson. Al was a US Air Force veteran, serving at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, SC. Al worked for Essig Motor Company in Washington in 1955 for 27 years, and later worked for Uftring Chevy Saab dealership in Washington in the parts department for 25 years. Al was a member of the Kennel Lake Sportsman club for many years, and was a volunteer fireman for the Washington Fire Department. Al loved to fish, NASCAR, and riding his ATC with his daughter, and spending time with his many friends. Al adored his granddaughter, Brooke, to whom he was known as "Papa." A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Alice Gwin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:30-7 PM on Friday, December 28, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
