Obituary
WASHINGTON-Alan C. Diehl Sr., 80, of Washington, IL, died at 11:55 pm Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his residence.
Born on April 9, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Arthur E. and Hazel Candler Diehl Sr., he married Lorraine L. Frye on August 25, 1952 in Freeburg, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 1 son, Alan C. (Kathy) Diehl Jr. of Groveland; grandchildren, Jason (Peggy) Diehl of West Chicago, Sara (Ben) Martin of Roanoke, Kory (Evelyn) Goeken of Peoria, Kasey (Fiance, Jessica) Goeken of East Peoria; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Cate Diehl, Landon and Grayson Martin; 1 brother, Arthur E. Diehl Jr. of Augusta, WI; and his beloved pet, Misty.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Donald.
He was a US Army Veteran. Alan's career at Caterpillar, Inc. started as a chip wheeler and then he went through the machinist apprenticeship program. He later became shop floor manager and concluded his career as factory manager of Building LL. He retired in 1986 after 37 years of dedicated service. Alan always looked forward to his time spent at his cabin in Minnesota with family and his fishing buddies and was also a huge Illini sports fan! He was a member of Highview Church of God in Washington.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Richard Fitzwater will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
