Obituary WASHINGTON- Agnes L. Schaefer, 87, of Metamora, formerly of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 5:20 P.M. at Snyder Village, surrounded by her loving family. Agnes was born on March 9, 1929 in Oran, MO to Joseph and Caroline Schlosser Blattel. She married Roy L. Schaefer Sr. on July 12, 1952 in Oran, MO. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Surviving are her children, Carolyn A. Schaefer of Peoria, Roy L. Jr. (LuAnn) Schaefer of Florence, IN, Bettina M. (Randy) Foster of Mapleton, Richard J. (Michelle) Schaefer of East Peoria, Anthony M. Schaefer of Bartonville, Paula Mooney of Bartonville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Agnes worked as a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, and spent many years volunteering at the church and school. She gave extensively of her time to the Northern Tazewell Fire Department and Rescue Squad along with Roy over the years. She also served as an election judge for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and crocheting. Her kind heart and giving spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad, or Snyder Village. A funeral Mass for Agnes will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service at the church. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2-4 P.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with a recitation of the rosary at 2:00P.M. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
