Tammy J. Warnke

Tammy J. Warnke, 40, of East Peoria, IL died at 7:40 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at her home. She was the daughter of Steve Warnke and Peggy Kobler Warnke.
She is survived by her brother Gary Warnke and her sister, Lisa Moore-Barber. Tammy is also survived by her beloved pets; her dog, Callie and her cat, Bella.
Tammy was born on January 8, 1976 in Peoria, and spent her entire life in the Peoria area. She graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1994, where she played girls basketball. She previously worked in the Peoria area as a bartender for several local establishments. More recently she was a member of Peoria Brain Injury Support Group, where she served as Secretary and was admired by other survivors. She also did volunteer work at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Tammy faced many heartbreaks in her short life. Her mother, Peggy Kobler Warnke died of cancer at the age of 39 in 1995. At age 30, Tammy was critically injured in a tragic boating accident on the Illinois River, where she suffered a traumatic brain injury. After the accident, she was cared for and lived with her father, Steve Warnke, until he died in 2011.
Despite her many challenges, Tammy did not let these events defeat her beautiful spirit. She surrounded herself with dear friends who became her extended family. She was known for her bright smile and unique laugh. Tammy dearly missed her parents and longed for the day when they would be together again. This should bring a sense of comfort to her grieving friends and family.
A celebration of Tammy's life will be at 10 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Rock Church in East Peoria, IL Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with the arrangements.
