Nathan Brock Pennington, 8 years old, of East Peoria, IL died peacefully at 1:46 pm Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his home.
He was born on August 6, 2008 in Peoria, IL to Corey D. and Julie M. Fischer Pennington. They survive.
Also surviving are his sister, Olivia Paige Pennington at home, paternal grandparents, Eldon and Joyce Pennington of East Peoria, maternal grandparents, Larry and Rebecca Fischer of West Lafayette, IN, paternal great-grandmother, Mariam Fischer of Peoria, IL, maternal great-grandparents, Elmer and Louise Tolson of Washington, IL, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nathan was a 2nd grade student at Armstrong Elementary School in East Peoria, last attending school in October of 2016. He loved baseball, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed listening to contemporary Christian music, especially the music of Chris Tomlin, and attended Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Nathan had a kind-heart and selfless spirit, and always thought of others first.
A service will be at 11 am Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Jason Woolever and Sarah Wanck will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the church and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in rural Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Children's Hospital of Illinois
Nathan's family wishes to thank the staff of St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Children's Hospital of Illinois, and Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago as well as Armstrong Elementary School for their tremendous love and kindness. They also wish to thank the entire community for their outpouring of support for Team Nathan and his family.
