Maxine A. Durham

December 19, 1929 ~ December 11, 2016 (age 86)
Maxine A. Durham, 86, of Washington, passed away at 4:49 am Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at Washington Christian Village.
She was born Dec. 19, 1929 in Nashville, IL to Arthur and Linda Holzhauer Zimmer. She married Ralph E. Durham on Sept. 3, 1950 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandchildren, Bobby and Katie; brother, Kenny; and sister, Bernice.
Surviving are 4 children, Debbie (Dan) Schrock of Washington, Patty Schrock of Washington, Dennis (Rachel) Durham of Santa Rosa, CA, Don (Karen) Durham of Normal; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda, Becky, Tim, Lisa, Michael, Samantha, Ashley, Mary, Alex, Tyler; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Maxine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother - displayed by her commitment as a stay at home mom and her love to host family birthdays and holidays for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After her last child started high school she re-entered the work force and worked full time in the accounting department for several banks in the Peoria area before retiring. After retirement she worked part time for a local Hallmark shop, the Morton Auto Auction (where she worked part-time with her husband Gene) and did volunteer work for Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria where she was active in the choir for many years, volunteered in the office, and was a member of the Bells of Harmony vocal group. Other passions were gardening in her yard and watching St. Louis Cardinal games.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria or Washington Christian Village.
Her memorial service will be at 10:30 am Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria with Pastors Mark Nelson and Matt Synott officiating. Following the service the family will greet friends. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm Thursday at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
