Eleanor graduated from Rosemont College, PA receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 1943; later attending Graduate School at Drexel University for Civil Engineering.
Besides raising 12 children Eleanor was a community activist spending 12 years on Washington's City Council serving as an Alderman, and was a 50 year member and Past President of the Town & Country Gardener's. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Parish Council, serving on several diocesan commissions. She was a feminist and backed the ERA vocally and in print. She kept abreast of current events up till the day she died. After having a stroke recently they did the usual cognitive tests. What's your birthday, what day is today etc. When she was asked if she knew who the current president is she answered, "Unfortunately, yes." She was an occasional French chef and served us dishes most mid-westerners had never heard about.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sister Mary Ann or Fr. Schubert Fund at St Patrick Catholic Church, or to a charity of donor's choice.
