Doris Mae Harlan, 75, of East Peoria, passed away at 1:58pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center- Riverview in East Peoria.
Doris was born October 28, 1941 in Shelbyville, IL to Gerald G. and Elsie L. Compton Huber. She married Norman E. Harlan on June 13, 1959 in East Peoria.
Surviving is her husband, Norman of East Peoria; her children, Norman D. (Janet) Harlan of East Peoria, Teresa (Pastor Eric) Wooding of LaPorte, IN, Ron (Carissa) Harlan of Pekin, and Pastors Chad (Tracey) Harlan of St. Joseph, MI; 10 grandchildren, Leah, Bethany; Evan, Tate; Micah, Chandler, Jude; Katie, Hannah, and Ben; great-granddaughter, Brielle; and her sister, Betty Hoagland of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Brewer and a brother, Wayne Huber.
Doris graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1959. She later graduated from Flamingo Beauty College in Peoria and she operated a hair salon out of her home for many years. Doris was a longtime, active member of East Peoria First Church of the Nazarene, where she led the choir; in recent years, she attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society and taking bus trips with her husband. She was a wonderful cook, liked to bake, and loved taking care of her family above all else.
Visitation for Doris will be held from 4-6:00pm Friday, January 13, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30am Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Lloyd Brock and Pastor Eric Wooding will officiate. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
