Washington –Sophie Huber, 92, of Washington, passed away at 9:46 pm Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born April 16, 1926 in Detroit, MI to Trifu and Elizabeth Togyeras Jivan. She married Wilber Leroy Huber in Detroit, MI on Dec. 19, 1955. He preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Kim; two brothers, Joe and John; and sister, Vera.
She is survived by her son, Kirk (Lidia) Huber of Clovis, CA; two daughters, Cheryl (Jon) Ricketts of Washington, Charla Huber of Washington; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Sophie was a member of the Washington Apostolic Christian Church.
She loved to sew and donated many hand-made items to various charities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a joy to her. Most important however, was her strong faith and living her life to serve God and others.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, Oct. 18th, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45am Friday Oct. 19th at the Washington Apostolic Christian Church with her funeral service to follow at 10am. Church ministers will officiate. Graveside services will be at 12pm Eastern Time on Saturday, Oct. 20th at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lifepoints or Apostolic Christian Counseling and Family Services, both in Morton.
