Ronald “Ron” Rose, 80, of Washington passed away at 9:45pm Monday, April 23, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Ron was born April 9, 1938 in Antigo, WI to Richard M. and Verna Brown Rose. He married Patricia M. Zdrazil on July 2, 1960 in Neva, WI, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Pat of Washington; and their children, Gina (Keith) Arrenholz of Delavan and Greg (Kerri) Rose of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Tim Jackson, Ashley (Adam) Haines, Kelsey and Karson Arrenholz, and Nicholas and Meghan Rose; one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Haines; siblings, Jesse Buck and Richard (Martha) Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Ron worked in security at Caterpillar and retired after 31 years with the company. He loved to help others; he put this gift to use through his 14 years of service with the National Guard and as a 15 year volunteer with Northern Tazewell Fire Department. He also volunteered with the American Heart Association, was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, the Knights of Columbus, Fr. John Menco Council in Washington, and the Caterpillar retirees club. Above all else, Ron was loving husband, father, and grandfather.
His family would like to thank the OSF Hospice team, especially the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for taking wonderful care of Ron.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. Fr. Stephen Willard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
